Abstract Nigeria being a nation has recorded some level of development right from the time of
independence. But in spite of this, nation building is continuous hence there is a vision to
achieve higher rate of development. To make this a reality, different sectors of human and
natural resources and other possible areas are being explored. To address this issue, creative
arts being a common cultural aspect and an integral part of the people has to be examined.
This paper therefore, discusses creative arts as a visual language for Nation building. The
paper opined that if creative arts are encouraged, it will no doubt enhance the nation’s
aesthetic and economic rate of growth and development, thus enhancing nation building.
The paper concluded by recommending amongst others that at least two creative art centres
should be established in all local government areas in Nigeria where people can be trained
to acquire practical skills that will make them productive. This will improve the nation’s
economy, reduce youth restiveness, enhance peace and security and consequently make
nation building a reality.

Abstract Entrepreneurship Education is inevitable when sustainable development matters
arise. Any nation in the world that wants to develop must harness the skill and
knowledge of its youth and utilize them efficiently and effectively for the
transformation of the economy, society, politics and culture. The essence to
develop economy is to help in job creation, capacity-building, growth and.
development. This can be best achieved when introduced in the school
curriculum. This paper therefore emphasises the need for entrepreneurship
education in colleges of education for the sustainable development of the nation.
It is recommended that the National Commission for Colleges of Education
(NCCE) should force colleges that are yet to adopt entrepreneurial education
programs to do so. Also, entrepreneurship education should go beyond the walls
of colleges and be adopted as a program enshrined in the curriculum of primary
and secondary schools. There is also need for entrepreneurial competences to
transform acquired skills into action for national development. Consequently, this
paper addresses the issue of competent teachers not being adequately used.

Abstract The study examines the recent sculpture pieces of three contemporary Nigerian artists in terms of
style, techniques, media and to a certain extent theme. These sculptors are Adeola Balogun (b.
1966), Kenneth Njoku (b.1972) and Sulayman Taiw (b.1967). The objective is to see if there are
similarities or differences, having been artistically raised in the same historical period, and other
reasons for such, to ultimately shed light on their works for collectors, analysts and general
education on sculpture pieces. The method is by direct- object study coupled with descriptive
survey after intense study of their catalogues, interviews and direct observation of works in their
studios. The results show three artists in one genre who apparently work in isolation yet reflecting
significant technical cum stylistic mutuality. The works invariably, expresses the unity of spirit of
an epoch with its infinite technologies of sculptured image rendition. The material usage show
strong resolutiwit to maximize homebred resources. Training background seems to be responsible
for similarities noticed as all trained at the Delta State University and the University of Benin;
religious beliefs differed but is not traceable in their choice of themes. The study has tried to
explain other factors responsible for this for enlightenment and progress in the discipline.

Abstract This paper examined structural and cultural perspective of Bambusa Vulgaris (Bamboo) with particular reference to Nigeria. The study highlights Bambusa vulgaris as-an indigenous plant which is in abundance in Nigeria. It's segmented, tubular, hollow, elongated characteristics and lightness coupled with its tensile strength makes it a prospective medium to be desired in the sculptor's studio which hitherto has not been sufficiently considered. Bamboo vulgaris as a material in some Nigerian states conventionally is used for traditional architecture reinforcement framework; Agriculture - stake for yam, vegetable scaffold, ladder, fishing gears and animal snares; security - fencing, walking staff; furniture - seats, bed; utensil -cups, including musical instrument and culturally stilt performers employ them for entertainment. However, in reference to modem sculpture practice that expresses the use of varied media, there is the possibility of bambusa vulgaris being harnessed for sculpture. The study concludes that in Nigeria, the practice of using bamboo for sculpture is not popular, but in various traditional cultures in Nigeria, especially in the Niger Delta particularly among the Urhobos and the environs are mainly functional. It is therefore recommended that Bambusa vulgaris as an indigenous material is viable for sculptural expression.

Abstract Education as a factor affects the lives' of a nation and it determines the success of the citizens and to a large extent, the rate of development of the country. This is the thrust of the study, to ascertain the relevance of entrepreneurship education into the curriculum of tertiary institutions. Also, it examines how entrepreneurship education can serve as a catalyst to national development. This study combines a descriptive survey design as well as the use of questionnaires to source for the requisite primary information. A sample of three hundred (300) students was drawn from a university, a polytechnic and a college of education situated in Delta state, Nigeria. Three hypotheses were formulated and tested in the study by using simple percentage and the chi-square statistical technique. The results reveal that entrepreneurship education in tertiary institution is needful and effective in building students entrepreneurial skills with the aim to equipping and inculcating self reliant skills. The implication of this is that every student in tertiary institutions should have at least a relevant skill, but the reverse is the case today, as most tertiary institutions still lack the basic infrastructures and requisite facilities to groom students in the needed entrepreneurial skills. The paper concludes by recommending a practical and not just theoretical head knowledge but demonstrative skills. This is the underpinning philosophy behind entrepreneurship education that can serve as a sine qua non to development through tertiary institutions.
